  • give you techniques for skin care product use
  • and take a look at some interesting home spa facials and anti-aging skin care devices

BSC Guidelines for Healthy - Beautiful Skin

Remember to protect your skin from the sun every day. Apply an SPF 15 or greater sunscreen on exposed skin and wear protective clothing - hats, cover-ups. Apply your sunscreen 20 minutes before going out into the sun. If you are in the sun for very long, remember to reapply your sunscreen. Try using a body moisturizing lotion that has a little self tanner included to keep that summer glow instead of tanning. You will be glad you did.

Do Not Smoke! Smoking is very harmful to your skin and to your entire body. Smoking impairs circulation to the skin and robs it of needed oxygen. This increases damage to the skin's collagen and elastin which are vital for skin fullness and elasticity. If you do smoke, please, please try to quit. We know it is very hard, but quitting will do so much not only for your skin, but your entire life.

Try to eat healthy. Your skin needs nutrition with anti-oxidants just like the rest of your body. If your skin is not looking good, this may be an early warning sign as to the condition of your overall health. Supplying your skin from the inside with vitamins, anti-oxidants and water is probably more important than anything you could put on your skin. All the anti-aging skin care creams in the world will not make up for an unhealthy diet.

Keep yourself hydrated. Try to drink plenty of water for your skin and overall health.

Get plenty of rest. Your skin needs the down time too.

I know this can be tough for many of you. Your schedules don't always allow for 8 hours of quality sleep. Sleep is important though, not only for your skin but again for your total health. If you have trouble sleeping, please see your physician. Ignoring the problem will not help. You will be much happier and stress free if you are getting a good night sleep.

Reduce stress for your skin and your happiness.

Get some exercise. Sweating is good for your skin. Walk, bike, play tennis or go to the gym.

Any moderate excise will help to:

  • Increase circulation to your skin bringing in vital nutrients
  • Eliminate toxins from your skin and body
  • Reduce your stress which will help your skin
  • Help you get a good night sleep
  • Break up those pockets of cellulite that make your skin look lumpy

Exercise can be very beneficial in reducing acne breakouts too.

Wash your face twice a day. We know we told you this one before, but it is worth repeating. Leaving make up and the days grime on your face harms your skin. Plus you want a fresh face to put your anti-aging skin care products on so they absorb fully.

Less alcohol consumption is better for your skin.

We don't want to nag... and we know these are all the guidelines you probably did not want to hear. Nevertheless, they are important not only for beautiful skin but for your general health, so please follow these guidelines the best you can. They will take you much closer to your ultimate goal - clear, bright, beautiful skin!

Step 5 - Helpful Techniques for your anti-aging skin care system

  • It won't be your imagination. You are going to see results. So take a couple photos of yourself without make up before you start your anti-aging skin care and renewal system. Then as you see results, take some more photos for comparison.
  • To be cost effective, check the product you have at home first. If they are not too old, check the ingredients in them. They may be perfectly fine to use in your skin care system. Otherwise, start slowly with a few key products like cleanser, moisturizer and sun protection. Then build from there when you are ready.
  • It is OK to mix and match skin care products. You don't have to choose all your products from one skin care line. Although, if you really like a product line, then it is fine to use all the same brand.
  • Ladies - replace or wash your make up brushes and sponges often. Throw out old cosmetics. You are trying to keep your skin healthy which is hard if you keep putting germs back on clean skin. The shelf life for cosmetics is 6 to 12 months so be prepared to throw them away when their time is up. Use a marker pen and date your products with the day your buy them. This will help you know when the item is old.
  • After you put in all this work to create your own skin care system, make it easy by being organized. Find a pretty tray or box for your products so they can stay on your vanity. Then just line up your products in order of use.

Tips for Applying Skin Care Products

  • Warm, moist skin allows for skin care products to absorb into the skin best but...
  • If you are applying anything oily that could block pores, rinse skin with cool water first to close pores.
  • After applying skin care products, stimulate the skin by tapping for 30 seconds. This increases circulation and absorption.
  • Do not stretch your skin when applying products. Use short strokes.
  • Don't forget your neck area. Make sure to apply your face products to your neck also. Your neck will age too.
  • Apply sunscreen to the back of your hands. It will keep away those ugly brown spots. Just put a dab of sunscreen on the back of one hand and use the back of the other hand to massage it in. This way you don't have sunscreen on your palms.

More General Techniques

  • To keep away those dreaded crow's feet - wear sunglasses when outside and don't squint!! That repeated squinting will really speed up the appearance of crow's feet. Wearing sunglasses will help you not to squint and also protect your eyes from UV radiation.
  • Always use a good lip balm with SPF sun protection. Your lips will naturally thin with age, so protecting them from the sun is very important as you don't wait to speed up the process. Also, it will help keep your lips moist which is all good.
  • To help hide those little lines, look for moisturizers or foundations with light reflecting particles. They will reflect light from the lines instead of into them.
  • In you live in a dry place, especially in winter, try using a humidifier to help keep your skin moist. House plants also help with maintaining inside humidity.
  • Take warm - not hot - showers. The hot water is more drying to your skin.
  • Avoid the direct heat from blow dryers on your face.
  • Take a good daily multi-vitamin. Your skin needs it. See vitamins here
  • Your soon to be beautiful skin will only be enhanced by a beautiful, white smile.  (links)
  • Be skeptical about the products you buy. Only believe about 1/2 the hype advertised. Look for products that guarantee what they advertise with a good return policy.

Researching and applying skin care products may not be much fun to most of you.

However it is a very important part of an effective anti-aging skin care & renewal system.
So now you deserve some fun...
